EMan Mold Intelligent Manufacturing Management System
Digitalized Full-process Management of Mold Manufacturing
In the sphere of internationalized, large-scale manufacturing enterprises, the evident dispersion of multiple factories becomes more pronounced. With the amplification of resources and geographical expansion, as well as the diversity in operational "languages" across factories, challenges such as difficulty in information exchange, real-time tracking of manufacturing progress, production scheduling, and cost management can arise between facilities.
To leverage the scale advantages and synergistic effects of multiple factories and ensure effective resource utilization, Singapore's Wonder Group has initiated the EMAN Mold MES Project across its four factories located in Dongguan, Nantong, Kunshan, and Ji'an. This collaboration aims to build a multi-factory MES platform using digital and informatization methods, systematically addressing the issues with multiple factories and optimizing resource sharing through balanced management of production volume, delivery schedules, quality, and costs to maximize enterprise benefits.
About Wonder Group >>
Wonder Group is a Singaporean wholly-owned company established in July 2000. It is a manufacturer specializing in the R&D and production of high-precision molds and various plastic products and automotive parts. Wonder possesses complete production facilities, inclusive of precision plastic injection molding, silicone compression molding, liquid silicone and plastic composite overmolding, along with post-process coating and module assembly. The company operates within four primary sectors: automotive components, industrial and medical, consumer electronics, and communications.
Wonder Group has four production bases in China: Dongguan, Kunshan, Nantong, and Ji'an, with its headquarters in Dongguan. In addition to its extensive sales and engineering office network in China, it also has offices in Germany, Japan, the USA, and Taiwan.
Wonder Group's clientele spans globally and includes numerous suppliers to OEMs such as Germany's Hella, Canada's Magna, the USA's Lear, Japan's Denso, and Germany's Kostal, alongside automakers such as Volkswagen and General Motors, electronics manufacturers like Foxconn and Tianhong, as well as electronic product brands including Huawei, Lenovo, Samsung, and Netgear.
Growing Together for Fourteen Years:
Creating a New Era of Smart and Digital Transformation
The cooperation between Wonder and EMAN traces back to 2008. During that pivotal period of transformation post-IPO, Wonder expanded its key competence in keypad-related businesses into becoming an automotive component supplier, producing interior parts and precision rubber-plastic composite components while foraying into industrial and medical equipment component sectors. To further optimize internal production management and enhance production efficiency, Dongguan Wonder Electronics implemented the EMAN mold MES system to manage the entire mold lifecycle from order intent to quotation, project control, design management, procurement, warehousing, assembly, and debugging.
As business operations expanded over the following years, Dongguan Wonder sequentially adopted the semi-automated intelligent processing system and smart design systems from EMAN. This allowed for standardized, process-oriented, and systematic processing management through automated electrode processing and inspection while utilizing the intelligent design platform to establish internal standard parts classification and data management. This enhanced standardization utilization levels, reduced error rates, and significantly improved product quality and efficiency.
∆ On site kickoff meeting for Dongguan Wande Yimo Intelligent Design Platform project
With the construction of factories in Kunshan, Nantong, Ji'an, Wonder Group's business became increasingly complex and variable. Management points across all facets of the operation increased, and if inter-factory collaborative management wasn't robust or communication channels ineffective, especially regarding mold manufacturing cost accounting, there could be excessive time spent on cost precision and quotations, leading to potential loss risks that contradict Wonder's lean manufacturing development goals.
Following preliminary research and business analysis of each factory, the multi-factory MES project with EMAN will deploy a unified system on a single server, channeling data between EMAN MES and upstream ERP systems. This will establish an information collaboration platform with MES as the focal point, allowing effective collection, transmission, processing, and feedback of manufacturing information across factories. This ensures accurate, timely, and efficient production progress information, facilitating orderly operations, optimized resource utilization, shortening production cycles, enhancing equipment use efficiency, improving production scheduling efficiency, and reducing management costs. These efforts aim to meet Wonder's needs for standardized and precise management practices.
Unified Effort Elevates Management to New Heights
During the project's kick-off meeting (held remotely), Wonder Group's CFO, Mr. Zhang, expressed confidence in EMAN and gave important directives for project advancement. He stated, "After months of evaluation and follow-up, we chose to continue partnering with EMAN. The kick-off meeting marks an important beginning, and going forward, everyone must work together diligently. Through integrated management of multiple factories, information transmission can be standardized, resource integration can be codified, and our management capabilities can reach new heights."
One Platform, One Purpose - Multi-factory Collaboration for Production Planning Information Sharing
Mr. Bai, project manager at Wonder Group, also emphasized the project's significance and requirements during the meeting. He noted: "After engaging with various factories and participating in solution planning and review, we have decided to join hands with EMAN to create a multi-factory integrated MES project. Our trust in EMAN stems from their long-standing industry presence, high market share, and a large number of renowned enterprises using their products. For this project, EMAN has deployed a strong team to ensure smooth implementation, instilling us with confidence.
Currently, our various mold factories lack unified parts processing plans and data. Through EMAN’s multi-factory MES system, integrating this data enables lateral and vertical comparisons on a single platform, achieving unified control and coordinated production within the group, and providing data support for management oversight. Certainly, new project implementation will involve substantial process transformations and increased work challenges, but we must stand united to overcome them."
Mutual Trust and Growth - Strengthening Internal Competencies for Future Expansion
During the project kickoff meeting, Zheng Canjian, General Manager of EMAN’s Dongguan branch, expressed gratitude for Wonder Group's support and trust, and assured dedication to the smooth launch of the project: "The overall growth rate of the manufacturing industry is evidently slowing, placing tremendous pressure on enterprises. Those investing in digitalization in these times are particularly visionary. In traditional manufacturing, many past issues were masked by rapid development; now is a good time to reinforce internal competencies.
Our partnership with Wonder began early, with Wonder accompanying EMAN on its path to intelligent transformation, through numerous major projects. This marks our third collaboration, reinforcing mutual trust through one successful collaboration after the other, enabling Wonder to entrust EMAN with critical core projects promptly. EMAN will remain committed to ensuring the project is launched successfully and looks forward to enhancing its core competitiveness through digitalization alongside Wonder."
Among EMAN’s clientele, over 600 in number, many, like Wonder, have nurtured trust over 3, 5, 10 years or even longer, by exploring, validating, and growing together piece by piece. These enduring alliances are invaluable to EMAN. On the path forward, EMAN will advance with innovative technologies and outstanding services, progressing hand-in-hand with customers and partners, accelerating intelligent transformation to help manufacturing enterprises draw the "growth curve" of high-quality development.
